Drinking water treatment scheme ozonation method :
Neutralization
Neutralization of the acidity of water is set to be neutral (pH 7-8). For the acidic water were given lime. The function of lime addition to neutralize the acidic raw water also to help the effectiveness of the next process.
Aerasi
Aeration of raw water contacting the air with that of iron and manganese are present in raw water reacts with the oxygen in air to form a compound of iron and manganese compounds which can be precipitated. Besides that aeration process also serves to eliminate toxic gases such unwanted gases H2S, CH4, CO2 and other toxic gases.
Koagulation
Koagulasi is the process of adding chemicals to the water so that the dirt in the water in the form of suspended solids rnisalnya organic dyes, fine silt, bacteria and others can quickly agglomerate and rnengendap. In the coagulation process is used alum. The way the addition of alum can be done as follows the number of alum dissolved in water and then dirnasukkan into the raw water and stir quickly until evenly for about 2 rnenit. After the stirring speed is reduced in such a way that formed gurnpalan-gunipalan dirt dirt suspended due to the merger contained in the raw water. After it left for some time so that dirt or lumps called flock grow into a big and heavy and settles quickly.
Precipitation
After water coagulation process was allowed to stand until the clot that occurs dirt settles all (+45-60 minutes). After the dirt settles tarnpak water will be clearer. The precipitate is collected at the base of the tank can be cleaned by opening the drain valves located under the tank.
Filtering
In the deposition process, not all impurities can be deposited clumps completely. Clumps of dirt with a large size and weight will sink, while the lump is small and light still hovered in the water. To get the water really clean to do the screening process. Filtering is done by pouring water that feces have been deposited into the bed of a filter that contains the sand filter.
Ozonation
The last process is the process of ozonation. Filtered water that has been quite clear diozonisasi to eliminate pathogenic bacteria and organic compounds so that water processing results can be directly consumed.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages and Disadvantages of usefulness in ozonation technology is able to eliminate the microorganisms pollutants and pollutant organic matter as well because it is not independent of the nature of ozone are known to have radical character (easily react with the compound around) and has the potential oxidation of 2:07 V. Ozone oxidation ability can kill a wide range of microorganisma like bacteria Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteriditis, and various other pathogenic bacteria. In addition, ozone also can describe a wide range of toxic organic compounds contained in water, such as benzene, atrazine, dioxin and other organic dyes. Another advantage is the use of ozone piping, equipment, and packaging will also be sanitized so that the resulting product would be assured as long as there are no leaks in the packaging. Ozone is an effective ingredient in addition to sanitary water is very safe.
However, ozonation method has drawbacks such as ozone can be toxic to humans even able to bring on death if inhaled in concentrations of 50 ppm for about 1 hour. Limit the use of ozone gas concentration levels in a variety of industrial activities is 0.1 ppm, while the levels of ozone in the water until 0:05 ppm does not harm the human body. Ozone, the active species that have a nature of this radical, require special attention in storage. Levels of 100 percent ozone at room temperature is easy to explode. Ozone will be safely stored at temperatures below-1830C with levels of ozone in a mixture of ozone and oxygen below 30 percent. Now ozone is stored mostly in the form ozonized or ozonized ice-water.
